About LACH II
Gary founded the Laboratory for Advances in Consciousness and Health I (LACH I) at the University of Arizona around 2002 when he and his colleagues were awarded a $1,800,000 interdisciplinary center grant from the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The laboratory consisted of twenty rooms performing (1) biophoton imagining, (2) EEG and cardiovascular recordings, and (3) other biophysical and optical science measurements. The participants were primarily humans, but occasionally the research involved animals as well as cell cultures (in collaboration with other laboratories at the University and other institutions).
LACH I was primarily supported by private foundations and individuals, not Arizona state funds. The research was published in peer reviewed scientific journals and summarized in Schwartz’s award winning 2007 book The Energy Healing Experiments, including a Foreword by Dr. Richard Carmona, the 17th Surgeon General of the United States.

The composite image below shows the main building as well as a few of the rooms inside the laboratory.

When Gary retired in 2024 from his position as professor of psychology, medicine, neurology, psychiatry, and surgery at the University of Arizona, thanks to funding from devoted private supporters of the survival of consciousness research, he was able to create a private research laboratory to continue this research (LACH II) and update his former LACH I UA website. LACH II is focused on the SoulPhone Project, and this is Gary’s primary research.

In addition, Gary is directing a new High Consciousness Fields Research Laboratory in an adjoining office suite. This work is focused on EEG and cardiovascular correlates of high consciousness fields as part of his secondary role as Director of Research for Focused Life Force Energy (https://www.flfe.net/flfe-studies-scientific-evidence/).
